Awesome tutorial Aram! Thanks for using the plugin and showing your workflow!
Thank you for making the plugin, its truly amazing !!!
Hi Aram, What is the purpose of doing your noise reduction as the first step in color grading -v- doing it as the last step? I must also thank you for spending the time and effort to produce these excellent tutorials!! very much appreciated!!
Hi Bill, reason is to work with the cleanest footage down the line, reducing noise in the first node ensures better results, especially with the secondaries. Also turning chroma noise to black and white makes it appear more filmic, vs digital.
I can totally believe that as with digital stills…The only problem is that the Neat video NR slows my machine down to a crawl as far as render times so I would have to apply NR to the entire clip and render it out uncompressed or 444 the re-import the footage to work on!?!?!
Thanks again for tutorials Aram…… you address a lot of professional concerns and techniques!
You can enable smart caching in Resolve – http://bit.ly/1g6J2fd . It helps.
I have SC on already!! It still slows Resolve down to a crawl. I just turn off that node while I work on the clips then turn it back on when everything is ready to render including having the project saved into the render Q. Unless I have very noisy low-lite footage it really doesn’t make that much of a diff. to the color grading process…really just a slight end smoothing enhancement!!
Thank you Aram, for your fantastic videos.
Even as an experienced colourist, I find that your videos are a perfect example of the fact that you can never know to much. I have garnered new and alternative ways of approaching processes I have done for years.
One more thing, where did you source the noise matte footage? It’s one of the best noise examples I have seen of this type.
Thank you again and take care.
Thank you very much ! You mean where I got the grain clip ? It’s a Gorilla Grain http://www.gorillagrain.com/
